By using the Bot Rules website and tool, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

What the tool provides

The generator helps you browse a published bot catalogue and produce sample robots.txt fragments, Cloudflare WAF custom-rule expressions, or Apache .htaccess snippets based on bots you select. Output is a starting point for your own security and crawling policy work—not a managed security service.

No warranty

The site and generated output are provided as is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, or non-infringement. Catalogue entries may be incomplete, outdated, or misattributed despite review.

Your responsibilities

  • Review every generated rule before applying it to a production site or Cloudflare account.
  • Understand that robots.txt compliance is voluntary; many abusive clients ignore it.
  • Respect Cloudflare’s documented limits (including the customary 4096-character custom-rule size). Split large selections if needed.
  • Treat generated Apache .htaccess rules as high-impact: a mistake can make a site unreachable. Keep backups and test before production use.
  • Do not use the tool to attack, harass, or unlawfully interfere with third-party systems.
  • Ensure you have authority to change crawling or WAF policy for the properties you configure.

Third-party data and trademarks

Bot descriptions and metrics may incorporate information originally published by Known Agents and related directories. Cloudflare Radar directory presence, when linked, indicates identity listing confidence only and is not a behavioural risk rating from this tool. Names and marks of third parties belong to their owners. Links to third-party sites are for convenience; we do not control those sites.

Availability and changes

We may change, suspend, or discontinue features, published revisions, or the entire service without notice. Rate limits, authentication for API consumers, and generator quotas may apply.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Trip Consulting and its contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business opportunity arising from your use of the tool or reliance on generated rules—including blocked legitimate traffic or failed blocking of unwanted traffic.
